Youth Talk

The Youth Talking group is for students with autism and aspergers.

It is held every Thursday from 5.30-6.30 pm for students aged 14-20 years.

This group is held at Speech Language Centre in The Royal Oak Medical Centre.

This group is for youth with autism and Aspergers. The group runs from the second week of each school term for a period of 8 weeks, with a definite focus for each week.

The main focus is to encourage communication and social skills in a safe, comfortable environment. Students are encouraged to participate by gentle encouragement. New areas of focus will be generated each term.

Students are encouraged to participate in group facilitation and in taking responsibility.

Students are encouraged to plan identified topics they wish to talk about ahead of the new term.

Feedback is provided to parents and caregivers on the students progress for the term and identified areas which still require facilitation.

The fee for the group for this term is: $350 for the 8 week block, which may be split, paid in week one and week eight of the term.

Carer support days may not be used to pay for the group.

The groups run each term dependent on member enrolments (with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members)

The facilitator for the Youth Talking Group is:
